CPRGlove

Patent title: Method and Device for a First Aid Container

First aid container with electronic aids to assist the non-professional user wishing to give medical assistance. The container would include a digital memory, micro-processor with an operating system and relevant software to execute the features of the invention, like for example step by step instruction how to give different treatments and instrument and medicine identification. There would be a screen and a loud-speaker. Optionally there could be a wireless transmitting and receiving system in conjunction with mobile phone operators or independently, GPS system and ability to send and receive SMS messages. Optional ability to accept verbal instructions, with voice recognition technology. Optional CD tray and connectors.

Ambulance 3G

Minimising the time required for a patient to receive primary care has always been the concern of the Accidents and Emergency units. Ambulances are usually the first to arrive on the scene and to administer first aid. However, as the time that it takes to transfer the patient to the hospital increases, so does the fatality rate. In this paper, a mobile teleconsultation system is presented, based primarily on third generation mobile links and on Wi-Fi hotspots around a city. This system can be installed inside an ambulance and will permit high-resolution videoconferencing between the moving vehicle and a doctor or a consultant within a base station (usually a hospital). In addition to video and voice, high quality still images and screenshots from medical equipment can also be sent. The test was carried out in Athens, Greece where a 3G system was recently deployed by Vodafone. The results show that the system can perform satisfactory in most conditions and can effectively increase the patient’s quality of service, while having a modest cost

First-aid sensor system: New methods for single-point detection and analysis of vital parameters such as pulse and respiration

The paper describes a first aid medical sensor system that is able to detect pulse and respiration. According to an opinion poll 79% of unexperienced first aiders were looking forward to use a system that supports them in first aid situations. Such a device has to be reliable and available in everyday use (e.g. as a keychain or in a first-aid kit). Therefore we investigated a single point sensor that is able to detect both respiration and blood flow at the same point of the body, for instance on the neck. Compared to ECG-derived methods absent pulse due to pulseless electrical activity (PEA) will be recognized as such. Tests have shown that the sensor can also be used to detect deglutition and other body motion sequences.
